United metallurgical company (CJSC OMK, Moscow) presented the CSR program implemented in partnership with the government in the regions at the interregional conference “Social responsibility. Business and the state. Principles of interaction for the successful cooperation.”
The event was held in Nizhny Novgorod, the Volga was organized by the representative office of the publishing house “Kommersant” with support of the company “LUKOIL”.
Active social policy aimed at the development of regions is an integral part of the corporate social responsibility of UMC. In 2015, the company launched a series of systematic long-term charitable programs aimed at solving critical social problems in company towns. All programs of OMK implemented in accordance with the purposes of the United Nations in the field of sustainable development in close cooperation with government officials, nonprofit sector, social entrepreneurs, and industry personnel.
Head of corporate social responsibility, UMC, Olga Mironova told the participants of the conference on the implementation of competition of social and charitable projects “OMK-Partnership” in the Nizhny Novgorod region, as well as on the programme for the development of social entrepreneurship “Start your own business”. Her company first launched in Vyksa this year in partnership with the Centre for social innovations of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Also the experience of corporate volunteering OMK as a social career for employees. Each year on social programs in the cities where OMK sends more than 1 billion rubles.
“OMK is working systematically to resolve the social problems of small cities where our factories. We must recognize that only through joint implementation of social programs and combine the efforts of business, government and society, including the development of public-private partnership, support and involvement of nonprofit organizations in programs of development of regions and stimulate companies to develop their CSR programs. Important role in this work also is providing and facilitating the access of NGOs to public services, information support of social programs and encouraging companies in the form of tax breaks,” – said in his speech, Olga Mironova.
