Henkel teaches respect for nature


The “World of researchers Henkel” is four years: from 2014 year, when started the first classes in Moscow, an educational initiative consistently developed, covering 4 regions of Russia. This year the geography of the “World explorers Henkel” will continue to expand, in April, will start classes in the suburban Noginsk. There will be a new topic of the lessons: module “Glues” and “Sustainable development” added new module “Cosmetics and personal care products”. This means that the lessons “the World of Henkel researchers” will be able to visit more children today in the classroom for the program has already involved more than 3,000 Junior high school students.


The lessons are designed for children 8-10 years and are designed to develop the foundations for a scientific picture of the world and respect for the environment. Training program material created jointly by specialists from the headquarters of the company Henkel and the Department of “Didactics of chemistry” at the Ruhr-universität. The initiative sets new standards for a holistic view of the learning environment and the presentation of the material. Children have the opportunity to experience what it means to be a researcher: experiments, get results, learn to share information with the scientific community by the example of their young colleagues. Like real scientists, students wearing white coats, goggles, pick up tubes and fun, but fascinating and important experiments.


The lessons on the subject “Adhesives” younger students learn about what substances are adhesives, what qualities they possess and how they might be improved. In the classroom “Sustainable development” the boys are studying, why protect the environment and take care of your health. In the second quarter of 2018 will launch a new module “Cosmetics and personal hygiene products” the properties of the skin, hair and effects of cosmetics on the body. Simultaneously with the laboratory work students get acquainted with the concepts of experiment, scientific hypothesis, learning to draw conclusions and record the results. In addition, children acquire skills of work in group, develop discipline and interpersonal skills.


For 4 years the programme has conducted more than 650 sessions in four regions of Russia: Moscow, Perm, Saratov and Leningrad areas. Today the main platform for the system of lessons is the biggest state educational institution of Russia – Moscow Palace of pioneers on the Sparrow hills. In the regions where the classes are organised in schools by volunteers – employees of the company Henkel. In addition to Russia, the programme is implemented in 8 countries, including Germany, Italy, China and India.

They do it with great enthusiasm and excitement, and so students are actively involved in the process and more likely to absorb the material.”
