Severstal and BF LUKOIL has supported the restoration of paintings


PAO “Severstal” and the charity Fund “LUKOIL” supported the restoration of unique monuments of art from the collections of the State Historical Museum in the framework of the project “Restoring the lost”. Restoration of the portraits held by artists-restorers of the State research Institute of restoration (Gosniir).


Seven paintings returned to the Historical Museum. It’s six works of the outstanding Russian portrait painter XVIII veka Fedor Stepanovich Rokotov and his workshop, as well as a portrait of the Empress Dowager of Empress Elizabeth painted by George Dawe.


Portraits by F. Rokotov presented to the Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich (the future Emperor Alexander I) in childhood and the members of the old Russian noble families – Streshneva, Glebov, Voeikova, Rzhevskaya, Matushkina associated with Moscow, where the greater part of his life the artist worked. The portraits were made in the early 1780s, the period, which is considered to be the time of blossoming of creativity of F. Rokotov.


Also specialists Gasnier was restored huge painting by George Dawe, the most approximate to in vivo, “Portrait of Empress Elizabeth Alexeyevna in the background of the Cameron gallery” (1825). John.Dou – painter, graphic, engraver, portrait painter, academician of the Royal Academy in London (1814). He became the first portrait painter of the Russian court in 1819-1829., where he arrived on the invitation of Emperor Alexander I. at the same time with a portrait at the presentation were presented two replicas, basically repeating the restored portrait.


Deputy General Director of “Severstal” communication and interaction with public authorities Alexey Egorov in his speech at the presentation of the restored paintings said: “the Company “Severstal” for a long time and successfully cooperates with the State Historical Museum. We are very pleased that the assistance we provide to the Museum, goes to the benefit of the inhabitants of Moscow and guests of the capital who see these priceless wonderful works of art.”
