The oncologist threatened to amputate the patient’s legs, if the family doesn’t pay him 100 thousand rubles



The oncologist of one of the Moscow hospitals Anatoly Antonov found guilty of extorting money from relatives of the patient, reports a press-service GSU SK of Russia across Moscow region. He demanded родственников100 thousand roubles, threatening with a leg amputation to the patient.

During the investigation it was established that in June 2017 the oncologist Anatoly Antonov, who worked in one of Moscow hospitals, demanded money from the relatives of the patient, promising in case of refusal, that person will have serious health problems.

Antonov said the sister of the patient, that it should be transferred to a different hospital to do the surgery there and keep the legs, otherwise they will have to amputate. He knew that this operation is carried out for free under the MLA. But he demanded that the relatives of 100 thousand rubles for their services in facilitating his transfer to another hospital.

The patient was transferred to a medical facility in Khimki, and there operated. Amputation was avoided. Antonov demanded that the sister of the patient to pay him for the help. After transfer of money he was detained by the police.

Anatoly Antonov found guilty under part 3 of article 30, part 3 of article 159 of the RF criminal code (attempted fraud). The court sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment with punishment serving in a corrective colony of General regime.
