“Our goal is by 2030 to eliminate TB,” said Minister of health Veronika Skvortsova during the conference “Interdisciplinary approach in solving problems of tuberculosis” in Moscow. About it reports TASS.
“We start a serious cycle of political and multi-sectoral reforms in the field of tuberculosis with a single purpose — to eradicate this disease by the year 2030,” explained the Minister.
According to her, the Declaration on the fight against TB on a global scale should be adopted at the First global Ministerial conference on tuberculosis, which will open in Moscow on 15 November. The provisions of this document will then be enshrined at the UN level.
Over the past 10 years, Russia has managed to significantly reduce both the incidence of and mortality from tuberculosis by more than two-thirds, said Skvortsova. “We have reached 15-17% reduction in mortality from tuberculosis per year. In the world the annual decline is from 2.2 to 6.5%”, — quotes its words of REGNUM.
Adopted by the world health organization (who) Strategy for tuberculosis control involves the elimination of this disease on a global scale as a public health problem by 2050 — by which time the incidence of TB is assumed to be reduced to one case per million people.
