24-25 November in St. Petersburg will host the international film festival about life of people with disabilities “Cinema without barriers”, organized by regyonelinas public organization of people with disabilities “Perspectiva” and the charity Fund “System”. All screenings will be free and open.
Touching and funny, serious and even controversial – it’s the sort of story people with disabilities from the UK, France, Ireland, Germany, Russia and other countries of the world will be first shown at the International film festival “Cinema without barriers” in St. Petersburg.
Guests can also enjoy a documentary about the charming twins “My life together”, a cartoon about toys with disabilities Macropolis – these and other paintings are laureates of festivals of different years prove: it is important to see any person primarily a person, not certain of his characteristics, including disability.
Special guests will be the Directors and performers of the main roles of the movies-participants: actor Jordan Prentice, painting with his participation – “At eye level” is one of the main screenings of the festival. In addition, the “Echo “Cinema without barriers”, going to visit the Director Sarah moon Howe (“the Complex kangaroo”), Director Richard Allen, actress Anita Hollander and others.
“The task of cinema to touch people – says Director of “Perspective” Denis rose. – I would like to see our films have touched viewers for live and changed them, breaking the stereotypes imposed on them in relation to people with disabilities. I think this process is started: if the first festivals came to us mostly spectators, the theme of disability has been personally affected, now the film festival audience is very different.”
In 15 years of existence of festival 700 films from 55 countries saw more than 20,000 spectators. The chairmen of the jury in different years were Vladimir Menshov, Aleksandr Mitta, Aleksandr Veledinsky, Andrei Eshpai, and other eminent Directors.
