Performance “Anima Chroma/Living pictures”, a unique art project on painting with an inclusive cast, will present at the Saint-Petersburg international cultural forum on November 15.
This is a play about perception and the experience of painting people who are different see the world. And the actors – the colors under the brush of the artist to create artistic images and scenes. Is it a new art form in which the deaf-blind and traceclasses actors with plastic dance convey the birth of 7 paintings from the Hermitage collection, among them “Dance” by Henri Matisse, “Composition No. 6” by Vasily Kandinsky and others. Volumetric animation of how the space and character of the play, created specially for the project, animator, laureate of the award “Oscar” Alexander Petrov, reflects the soul of the colors, the image.
Technique in which draws your movies animator, incredibly complex and is called “finger painting” – that is, works not with clear plastic, and glass. Squeezing the paint, draws Alexander toes, only in exceptional cases uses brushes. One picture — a single frame of film which when viewed will fly 1/24 for a fraction of a second (i.e., 1 minute of film you want to draw more than a thousand paintings in a day, you can draw about 15). The next moment of the film is born by way of amendment in the previous episode. In such a manner to the end of the filming, the artist remains virtually nothing but glass with the last part of the movie, all the fruits of labor – only on film.
And animation, created for the play “Anima Chroma/Living Pictures”, as well as glass, remember the last picture reflects the experiences and images captured in the memory and imagination of the person at the meeting with the painting. One of the main ideas of the play – a unique perception of art, feeling it through different prisms. The play explores the forms of understanding art and aesthetic expression of the experience of a deaf-blind and traceclasses actors on the stage.
Victoria Avdeeva, author and producer of the project: “This is a very important project both in cultural and social value. This project originated as a response to the question “Why would a man without a vision need painting?”. The performance itself, a concept which suggested Alexander and Dmitry Petrov, is a new and unusual art form that was the result of the collaboration between theatre and animation. For viewers with any opportunities of view, the performance will be a revelation about the birth of painting, the relationship of ages, cultures and generations in images and archetypes of works of art”.
